The Community Kitchen Series is made possible by the funding provided by the Ministry of the Attorney General for the Building Welcoming and Inclusive Neighbourhoods project, a 3-year initiative of a coalition of neighbourhood houses. The program started in year 2008.
A program designed for seniors (50+) to gather, share knowledge and stories while cook and eat together. Focus on nutritious soup & healthy baking. Every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, 10:30am – 1:30pm.
This community kitchen program welcomes members from the neighbourhood who enjoy food and cultures. Each time the group picks a recipe from a different culture to try. Through cooking, members learn about different cooking techniques and the culture behind the food.
Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, 10:30am – 1:30pm.
A program specifically designed for the newly arrived Rohingya refugees from Myanmar or Bangladesh. The group gathers at the Hub twice a month, cook their traditional food together while learn English and Canadian culture. Currently in the second phase of the program – Canadian cooking is introduced to the group.
This program is designed for newcomers of our neighbourhood (adults and youth) who are interested in food preservation and want to learn how to balance between the old style cooking with the Canadian food.
Sessions run on the 1st Saturday of the Month between September to December 2011, 9:00am — 2 :00pm at OANH Kitchen.
